This month, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting education student Crystal Humphrey, who is doing a placement with our Intercultural Outdoor Recreation program as part of her outdoor education degree at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Crystal (above, far left) has been researching best practices in language exchanges as well as how to evaluate this kind of program. Crystal has a keen interest in how to make outdoor recreation more accessible to newcomers to Canada and is thinking of starting up some kind of similar programming in Ontario. While in Montreal, she’s also been meeting with various partner organisations, helping out with our outings (including last Thursday’s snowshoe outing, pictured above – the conditions were superb!!), participating in a McGill Canada World Youth Club intercultural outdoor weekend, and learning French! A big thank you to Crystal for her energy, enthusiasm, research and recommendations, and best of luck in her projects to come!
