Make a charitable donation by July 7 and sponsor a low-income newcomer to discover canoe-camping with us this summer! We’re planning an introduction to canoe-camping at the Parc régional naturel de Portneuf in early August, and our goal is to sponsor two low-income newcomers, asylum seekers and/or refugees to take part. Your generosity will help facilitate the integration of these new Montrealers by introducing them to this activity, which is rooted in our culture and history. Our goal is to raise $680 ($340 per person). Donations of any amount are welcome!

Here’s a touching story: Our last canoe-camping outing was back in 2019, before COVID. One of the asylum seekers who participated thanks to your generous donations wrote: “This experience allowed me to interact with new people, get to know places of Canada with extraordinary landscapes, camp in them and do canoeing for the first time.” She just registered for this summer’s introduction to canoe-camping… this time, as an “established Montrealer”, and she even made a donation to help a low-income newcomer participate!

How to donate: please go to the donations page of the Maison de l’Amitié, one of the organizations that co-presents the Plein air interculturel program. In the list of funds/projects, please select Intercultural Outdoor Recreation. Let us know you’ve donated so that we can make sure your charity receipt is sent to you. Your receipt will be issued by the Maison de l’Amitié de Montréal.

Thank you so much for supporting the Intercultural Outdoor Recreation Program, a joint initiative of the Milton Park Recreation Association and the Maison de l’amitié de Montréal (a registered charity).
