Give More Than an Outdoor Adventure: Support the Health and Well-Being of Newcomers

For many people who have recently arrived here, the first months are marked by isolation, stress, anxiety, and the challenges of adapting to a new environment. Access to activities that promote physical health, mental well-being, and meaningful social connections is often out of reach due to financial barriers.

By making a donation, you help refugees and low-income newcomers participate in introductory canoe-camping and whitewater kayaking trips. These immersive outdoor experiences help reduce isolation, improve mental health, build self-confidence, and foster a sense of belonging in their new community.

Your donation helps meet essential needs: restoring balance, breaking social isolation, improving physical and mental health, and rebuilding confidence for the future.

Change a Life, One Adventure at a Time

Make a charitable donation by July 20th to sponsor a refugee or low-income newcomer to participate in a camping introduction program with Plein air interculturel this summer.

Together, we can remove financial barriers and give everyone the opportunity to experience the benefits of the outdoors, supporting healthier, more inclusive, and more meaningful integration into Canadian society.

Every $380 raised allows one newcomer or refugee to participate in an introductory canoe-camping or whitewater kayaking experience that supports their well-being, integration, and overall health.

Any contribution, large or small, helps make the following life-changing outdoor experiences accessible to those who need them most:

  • An introductory canoe-camping trip at Portneuf Regional Natural Park from July 31 to August 2;
  • Or an introductory camping and whitewater kayaking trip on the Batiscan River from August 21 to 23.

Thank you in advance for your generosity. Together, we can offer a newcomer a moment of respite, renewal, and connection that will have a lasting impact on their health, integration, and sense of belonging.

How to donate: please go to the donations page of the Maison de l’Amitié, one of the organizations that co-presents the Plein air interculturel program. In the list of funds/projects, please select Intercultural Outdoor Recreation. Let us know you’ve donated so that we can make sure your charity receipt is sent to you. Your receipt will be issued by the Maison de l’Amitié de Montréal.* https://www.canadahelps.org/fr/organismesdebienfaisance/montreal-house-of-friendship/

Thank you so much for supporting the Intercultural Outdoor Recreation Program, a joint initiative of the Milton Park Recreation Association and the Maison de l’amitié de Montréal (a registered charity).

Wishing you a wonderful summer!

*La Maison de l’Amitié provides administrative oversight to ensure that the donations support activities that align with its mission. And if the needs of a given activity are already covered, your donation simply helps fund other intercultural outdoor activities — always with the same goal: making nature accessible to newcomers.
