Learn cross-country skiing with a Ski de fond Québec-certified instructor! We will teach you the basic techniques of classic cross-country skiing in a friendly and intercultural environment. Classes will be held at Jeanne Mance Park or at the bottom of Mount Royal Park depending on snow conditions. Learn with a small group of around 5 participants. Sign up for one or more à la carte classes to progress at your own pace. There will be the possibility to rent skis during the course.

Length: Each course will last 1.5 hours. ***You must arrive 20 minutes BEFORE the start of the course if you need to rent skis.  Otherwise, arrive on time and 100% ready to ski!

Our Four Levels:

Beginner 1: This course is for true adult beginners who have never done any cross-country skiing nor winter sports. Be ready to get a bit of exercise!

Beginner 2: This course is for adults who have already skied once, are able to get up after falling, and are familiar with the equipment.

Beginner 3: This course is for adults who have already skied three or four times and have acquired some basic techniques. Participants should be able to move forward on easy terrain and glide down a mini slope.

Beginner 4: This course is for adults who have already skied several times, who are beginning to use the snowplow technique on mini-slopes to slow down and stop, and who are ready to try the snowplow on a larger slope. You should be in reasonable physical shape, be able to move forward using the classic stride and weight transfer, and be able to ski at a pace of about 4 km/h.

Please contact us if you are unsure of your level: It’s possible and encouraged to take the same course more than once if needed before moving to the next level; activities will vary during the courses.

Rates: The regular rate for one course is $38 plus taxes. To rent skis during the course, please add them to your registration ($10 plus taxes).

A discounted rate is available for low-income newcomers: $5 plus tax, including course registration and ski rental during the course. To qualify for the discount, your situation must correspond to the 4 criteria described here. To access the discounted rate, please use the following code: NAFRSki2023.
