Introduction to Camping in Montreal – July 30-31st!

Have a fun and easy camping experience with Parks Canada. The Parks Canada team welcomes us at the Lachine Canal to teach us camping basics. This activity is for people who never had the opportunity to go camping, for the most part. We have received a group rate; take advantage of it!

Please register here:

Please reserve and pay only once under your name at the rate of $74.25 for your entire group. This includes your tent and campsite, for between 2 and 6 people. Book for the whole family or for your group of friends. Here are examples of possible combinations in the tents:

– 4 adults and 0 children

– 3 adults and 2 children

– 2 adults and 4 children that are not too big

– Minimum of two people in a tent, to optimize

Financial assistance is available in limited amounts for low-income newcomers camping for the first time. Please contact to inquire. See the criteria here:

Refunds: Please contact us in writing if you need to cancel your reservation a minimum of 8 days before the start of the activity and ARMP will provide a refund. After this date, no refund is possible since we will have already paid for your spot with Parks Canada. Thank you for your understanding. This activity will take place rain or shine.

When and where to meet: Saturday July 30 at noon at the Berge des Coursiers here – It is possible to reach the site by bike, public transportation or car. You will be able to enjoy the site and activities until Sunday July 31st at 2 pm. There will be free parking at 889 Mill Street.

What’s included in the $74.25 fee for your group/family:

  • Tent and sleeping pads
  • Picnic table
  • Chairs
  • Camping stove
  • Camping cookware
  • Pots and cutlery
  • All scheduled workshops and activities, including the Learn-to paddle activity for everyone and the Learn-to-Fish workshops for kids aged from 6 to 17 years old.
  • There will be an optional continental breakfast on Sunday (for an additional fee of 4$/adult and 3$/children). You must reserve and pay for this breakfast by Tuesday July 26th at the latest.

What to bring

  • Sleeping bags (sleeping bags are NOT provided. Please ensure you have one for each member of your group, or at least a sheet/blanket).
  • Pillow
  • Flashlight
  • Suitable, comfortable clothing for the outdoor:
    • comfortable shoes
    • weather-appropriate clothing (night can be cold)
    • rainwear
    • a hat to protect you from the sun
  • Toys and books for the kids
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Food (Saturday’s supper, snacks and Sunday’s lunch if you plan on staying for Sunday’s afternoon’s activities). Also, remember to bring some snacks.
  • Water bottles
  • Personal hygiene products
  • Any personal medication
  • Camera
  • Your health card
